Historic Town of Tombstone, Arizona - January 2007
 |
I would like to dedicate this picture collection to my friend "Kansas Kelly" who lives and
toils in the state of Kansas. The poor girl is struggling and fighting to get
out of that state and I never want to take for granted living in the West. It is so beautiful here and I am so grateful to live out west!
Hang in there, Kelly! You will get out of there ... I just know it!
The adjacent photos show off the main historic road of Tombstone, Arizona. It has the classic western
overhangs above the store fronts beside a dirt road. |
 |
It definitely has a feel and flavor of an old western town! :) |
 |
There are many historic buildings in and around Tombstone, including the courthouse
(top left), city hall (top right) and the chamber of commerce building (bottom). |
 |
To make it more interesting, cowboys in western garb and horse carriages make
Tombstone quite a historic experience! |
|
History along the main road. |
 |
I rode my bicycle around Tombstone and here's a view facing west. Tombstone
is a quiet and sleepy desert town in southeast Arizona ... I could definitely live there! :) |
 |
I went inside the Tombstone Epitaph which is a museum
that shows original machines and tools used to make the city's original newspaper. |

I really like the town of Tombstone, Arizona. While staying in Tucson, it seemed many referred to Tombstone as "tacky" and a "tourist trap," but I thought the historic area was done quite well. It is indeed quite a replica of what it may have been like to live in Tombstone during the settlement era. If you love old western history, sleepy desert towns and the Southwest, I recommend you visit. I enjoyed Tombstone! :) |

Check out the large prickly pear cactus I spotted! You can see more of my cactus photos
inside town here. |
